How to double the mango yield
India is the world’s largest producer of mangoes, despite inefficient farming methods. A good crop can have a huge impact on the farmer’s life and family. By adopting a farming technique called Ultra High Density Plantation (UDHP) technique, limiting the height of the trees and planting the grafts closer to each other, the mango yield can be multiplied.
Project Unnati, is a joint project between the Coca-Cola Company and Jain Irrigation, and aims at creating a sustainable ecosystem and teaching farmers the UDHP-technique. Over 25,000 farmers all over India will be encouraged to join the project during the next 10 years.
